Lovely Monday: Guest Room

October 5, 2010

Today was spent getting ready for my friend Jolien’s visit. She will be staying with us for a few days and I’m so excited to get to spend some time with her. We have a lot to catch up on.

Even though we don’t have overnight guests very often, it would be nice to have a guest room set up. The room where Jolien will be sleeping in is currently green and violet with hand-painted flowers and butterflies done by the previous owners…cute in a way, but not really a look we want to keep.

Thinking about guest rooms, what came to mind is the guest room of The Lettered Cottage – one of my favorite blogs and one of the first I started reading!

Staying in their room must be so relaxing…I love the striped bedding and the oar used as wall-decoration:

This grouping of black and white photos and inspirational quotes is so pretty:

Such lovely details like the starfish on a rope pull it all together:

How great is this vanity? Such beautiful patina, color and shape.

I hope your week is off to a good start!

It is indeed a really beautiful room.. In my studio with the two tables I also made a temporarely guest room with taking out the tables and adding a bed and a little cupboard Great to be able to use the room in two forms ;)
